Type “connect” into a search box and the suggestions are strikingly concrete: connect Shopify to Xero, get stock from Cin7 into the ledger, stop re-keying supplier invoices. Behind every one of those searches is the same picture — a business running on good systems that each do their job, and a person carrying numbers between them by hand.

When the connector on the shelf is enough

The app stores are full of ready-made connectors. For the common case — standard fields, a single entity, the default flow, both systems on the supported list — they are exactly right. When that is the whole story, take the connector off the shelf: it will be cheaper than anything custom, and you do not need us for it.

When it almost fits

The searches above usually start the day the connector almost fits. The fields are custom, or there are three entities instead of one, or an approval has to happen between the two systems rather than after them. One side is a webshop with a modern API; the other is a fifteen-year-old ERP with a nightly export. The connector covers most of the flow, and the rest lands on a person: exporting, re-keying, checking totals that no longer agree.

What a custom integration actually looks like

Under the hood it is unglamorous and reliable. A REST call or a webhook when the moment matters; a scheduled sync when it does not. Data validated before it is written, never after; a log of every record that moved; a human approval step wherever money moves. In either direction: out of Xero into the systems around it, or from those systems into the ledger.

The bookkeeping itself — what gets coded where, what the BAS says — stays with your team and their accountant or registered BAS agent. Our job is to make sure that by the time they exercise that judgement, the data is already in one place, checked, and carrying its own audit trail.
